Goichi ‘Suda 51’ Suda revealed a crazy new game at Sony’s E3 press conference this year titled Let It Die, and the most we could take from it was that you just killed people, or ended up being killed, and so on.
Thankfully, our friends at Siliconera met up with the CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture and picked his brain regarding the upcoming asynchronous multiplayer action title. Featured above, Suda mocked up a little doodle of what the entire game is essentially about. However, he was gracious enough to explain it as well:
“The theme of Let it Die is survival action. We see the player kill enemies and on the flip side, you’re just trying to survive. When you think about the title, another way of looking at it is you’re trying to live. In the trailer there is a scene where a character grabs sand from the ground and throws it at the enemy. You can kind of see what players will do when they don’t have items or weapons in the beginning and they’re fighting to survive. The violence in this game is just a byproduct of trying to survive.”
Let It Die was previously confirmed as a free to play game on the Playstation 4, although Suda didn’t confirm what kind of items would be sold in the game. However, he did flatly promise that the game will not be pay to win. The overarching process of how the gameplay unfolds was further explained by Suda:
“When a player plays a regular game and die, that data dies too. What happens in Let It Die, the player data goes into this cloud. They’re part of the game now. Enemies have different characteristics, different visuals, different ways of attacking because they were different people.”
We’ll unfortunately have to wait for more info behind the game until after E3. Let It Die is heading to PS4 sometime next year.
