Leaked footage has shown off a good amount of Skull & Bones, the pirate video game Ubisoft announced to take advantage of the popularity of the ship sections in one of their Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft has confirmed the leaked footage is indeed real, and while it has been taken down off numerous platforms, it has been ripped and reuploaded several times and is likely from the game’s new beta.

The statement to them was as follows:

We can confirm this is a glimpse of our upcoming game Skull & Bones. Recently, we ran a technical test for the game and some of its details became public. This video footage was taken from an early version of the game and doesn’t reflect the quality and features of the final game. We’ll share more details about the game soon.

Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones, which was announced all the way back in 2017 has suffered many major obstacles.

This has contributed towards putting the game into a state of development hell due to issues with Ubisoft Singapore, the developer behind the title.

Such examples include the associate director leaving the project. As well as an investigation by a watchdog group due to allegations for sexual harassment and discrimination.

Here’s the latest reupload:

The leaked video was posted on Streamable, which has since been taken down. It has been stated by other who have seen it as gameplay showcasing a tutorial for testers to explain to them about the infamy system in the game.

It also shows how player can progress in the game by taking on contracts to level up and how they’ll build and customize their ships. Said footage was also confirmed by Ubisoft (via Polygon) as real.

The developers of the game have also taken advantage of Skull & Bones getting a little bit of the spotlight once more. On Twitter they’ve hinted on news coming soon for the game.

As stated before, the game has gone through many issues and obstacles during it’s development. Which is why Ubisoft has shown very little of it since it’s initial announce back in 2017, five years ago.

Most recently they’ve gone on record that the game will come out in the next year. Which puts it in alignment of them placing the release of the game on their fiscal year of April 2022 to March 2023.

What do you think of this news? Were you a fan of the ship sections in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and want more of it? Or does the known plans of Skull & Bones, which include making it more into a live service game turn you off from plundering the high seas?

Skull & Bones was originally announced for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
