Skull and Bones gets release date in November 2022

Skull and Bones

Ubisoft hosted a Skull and Bones focused livestream where they discussed the release date, and the sort of content that can be expected on launch and in the patches following launch.

First things first, the game is coming November 8 on the Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia (for some reason).

Pre-orders are open now and players can purchase the deluxe edition which includes the “Ballad of Bloody Bones” cosmetic set, Ashen Corsair ship ornaments, extra missions, and a Smuggler’s Pass token.

Skull and Bones largely takes place aboard your ship whether that’s hunting wildlife and gathering raw materials from the coast for a quick and easy payday, or setting sail through storms to intercept trade routes and pillage forts and settlements.

The greater the risk, the greater the reward, but the biggest rewards require a higher Infamy. Infamy is a state that increases as you play the game; while the fastest way seems to be fulfilling contracts just about everything rewards progress on Infamy. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if Infamy was tied to the “Smuggler’s Pass” system.

The game will feature a solo and co-op mode alongside opt-in PvP servers (something Sea of Thieves hasn’t managed). Players will be able to customize their ships with a variety of weapons and different types of armor. Weapons can range from Greek Fire, to Ballistae, to conventional cannons.

Different types of ships have different advantages and can be put into three major categories. Cargo ships which are slow but can haul more loot, Navigation ships which are more agile but weaker, and lastly Firepower ships which are slower but feature more fixture points for big guns.

Players will begin their adventure as an unknown pirate with a small ship on the Indian Ocean and the map will span from the coast of Africa to the East Indies. Outposts and Dens are safe spaces dotted across the map, but not all settlements are friendly. Skull and Bones players will be able to raid and pillage forts and settlements along the coast.

Skull and Bones has been repeatedly pushed back since it was initially announced years ago. Recently, it was speculated the game wouldn’t come out until 2023 but now we know for sure that players can get their hands on the game on November 8.
