The remake for Silent Hill 2 was announced late in 2022 and has gotten little news of its upcoming release since then, now that we’re in 2024. However, that may soon change according to the developers.
According to developer Bloober Team’s CEO Piotr Babieno, via Polish website Bankier, the game’s promotional campaign is expected to launch “very soon”. Though it was also noted that publisher Konami, who own the rights to the IP, will be responsible for it.
Since its announcement, not much has come out for the title outside of reminders that it will be coming out. We have reported on statements that the Silent Hill 2 remake will update the “scare factors” for contemporary audiences and that the developer aims to “define the future” of horror games with it.
However until footage of the game come out, these statements mainly serve as fluff by the developer to promote their game, even if minimally so. As such, one should wait until more is known before coming to more concrete conclusions.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake is coming to Windows PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5 (as a console exclusive, for a year).
