Sega Mega Drive Mini Delayed to 2019, Worldwide Release Now Planned

Sega has announced a delay for their April 2018-announced Mega Drive Mini throwback console.

The classic re-release of their hit home console will now launch sometime in 2019. The company noted that while the device was planned for a release this year, response for the new hardware was quite huge, especially overseas.

Alongside the delay is the confirmation that a mini console is now being prepared for North America and Europe, with plans to launch the retro console simultaneously – worldwide. Furthermore, to match the expectation of fans, Sega has created a new system to rethink the design of the hardware with the original Mega Drive team at the core.
