SEGA calls blockchain, NFT, play-to-earn games boring

SEGA who previously had blockchain ambitions has come out calling play-to-earn games boring.

In a Bloomberg interview with SEGA Chief Operations Officer (COO) Shuji Utsumi commented on the trend of blockchain-enabled “play-to-earn” games: “The action in play-to-earn games is boring. What’s the point if games are no fun?”

“We’re looking into whether this technology is really going to take off in this industry, after all.” Shuji continues. His comments represent a stark about-face for the company who has been wishy-washy about their relationship with NFTs and Blockchain technology.

SEGA previously assured fans that they would drop NFT projects if their fans were soured on the idea but then they quickly partnered with outside companies who worked in these fields.
