Sameko Saba, a new indie VTuber debuted a few days ago to a huge live crowd of hundreds of thousands. In the days since, her VOD has reached almost 3 million viewers.

The reason is that Saba is “rumored” to be hololive’s most popular idol Gawr Gura after graduating from the company earlier this year. VTubers, especially corporate ones typically have contracts which forbid them from advertising their “past lives” as it’s referred to by fans. Combined with the sort of kayfabe that VTuber fans appreciate it, it can be pretty opaque to find VTubers who have rebranded from the corporate scene.

To that end, we have a few recommendations for fans of “graduated” Vtubers looking for somewhere to go and are absolutely not implying anything.
