Square Enix have revealed more information about the story of new character Fuse in SaGa Frontier Remastered.

As previously reported, the game is a remake of the 1998 PlayStation JRPG. Taking place in a universe dubbed The Regions, players can choose from the original seven characters along with new playable character Fuse in an intergalactic quest.

Each character has their own story, and can freely explore almost the entire universe thanks to the Free-Form Scenario System. Their stories can also weave and intersect with one another, as they explore worlds of different levels of civilization, technological prowess, and magic.

As stated in the press release, the scenario new character Fuse was written by the SaGa series General Director Akitoshi Kawazu, and game writer and fiction author Benny Matsuyama. The ending to each of the original seven characters stories have also “evolved further from the original version and will surely make players want to follow everyone’s journey alongside Fuse.” 

Fuse’s story is unlocked after completing any of the other seven character’s stories, and features new music by composer Ito Kenji. His story features “IF” scenarios. In other words, “What if Fuse had intervened in the other protagonists’ episodes?” As such, players can form unique parties only possible in the Fuse story (such as the other protagonists, other IRPO members, and Emilia’s fiance Ren), and multiple endings.

Fuse’s story also has the potential to battle the other protagonists’ final bosses. Up to six of these bosses can be challenged, with each growing stronger the more final bosses have been defeated. The final boss battle music in the Fuse storyline is also newly composed by Kenji Ito.
