Rumor: Starfield Will Be Exclusive to Xbox and PC

Starfield Will Be Exclusive to Xbox and PC

While Microsoft has previously tapdanced around Bethesda games being exclusive to Xbox and PC, now a new rumor is claiming Starfield will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.

The new rumor comes via GamesBeat write Jeff Grubb who said “Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period,” he tweeted. “This is me confirming that.”

Previously, Microsoft finalized their acquisition of the company roughly six months after beginning the acquisition, leading to all kinds of speculation as to what will happen with future Bethesda releases.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer previously alluded to the possibility of future Bethesda games being exclusive to Xbox and PC.

“If you’re an Xbox customer, the thing I want you to know is this is about delivering great exclusive games for you that ship on platforms where Game Pass exists, and that’s our goal,” Spencer said at the time.

Xbox CFO Tim Stuart also teased some kind of Bethesda exclusivity in saying their games will be “either First or Better or Best” on Xbox and PC. Spencer also suggested Microsoft could recoup the staggering $7.5 billion acquisition deal without releasing future Bethesda games on PlayStation.

While Starfield was announced nearly three years ago at E3 2018, the game is only confirmed for Windows PC, with the next console generation confirm probably coming sometime this year.

As with any rumor, take this with a grain of salt – even if it does make sense that Microsoft will make Bethesda’s big new RPG’s console exclusive to Xbox. What do you think? Will you play Starfield or The Elder Scrolls VI on PC, or Xbox?
