Rumor: Dead Rising reboot in development

Capcom has seen major success from the remakes of their classic Resident Evil titles, but it’s easy to forget that this isn’t their only big horror franchise.

Dead Rising is not only their second most popular horror series, but also one of their biggest IPs in general.

There hasn’t been a new game since 2016 with the failure of Dead Rising 4 appearing to put an end to the franchise. However, there are now rumors that a new reboot of sorts can be expected to be in the works right now.

In response to a tweet, journalist Jez Corden hinted “If you’re a Dead Rising fan there might be something on the horizon for you too…”

When someone asked on the direction in which the new game would take, as the previous entry was received rather poorly, Corden replied that this new project will be a reboot.

Capcom aren’t the only ones remaking or rebooting classic horror franchises. In this year alone, we’ve seen the launch of Dead Space remake and will see the remake of both Silent Hill 2 and Alone in the Dark.

In terms of the remake or reboot wave, it seems that a Dead Rising reboot would fit this recent trend.

Meanwhile you can check out Capcom’s own recent remake with Resident Evil 4 which is now available for Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can check out our review for it here.
