Capcom Shutters Dead Rising Developer Capcom Vancouver

Capcom has announced they’re shutting down their main western development studio, Capcom Vancouver.

The company is suspending operations for the studio effective immediately, and are relocating its resources to in-house studios back in Japan. The studio has been responsible for the Dead Rising franchise since the second game, Dead Rising 2.

“We appreciate the hard work and contributions of all the studio team members in creating unforgettable gameplay experiences for the Dead Rising series and Puzzle Fighter,” Capcom said of the studio’s closure.

The company said they’re “currently reviewing the allocation of its development resources that support the production of world-class content” and that they’ve been “focused on increasing the efficiency and growth of its game development operations.”

Furthermore, it remains unseen how many of the now laid off employees will find jobs at the Capcom headquarters, in Osaka. Alongside the closure of the studio is the cancellation of any projects they had in development.
