Rumor: Creative Assembly Working on Alien Isolation 2 [UPDATE]

[UPDATE]

A new follow-up via Eurogamer’s own sources point to this being entirely false.

According to their sources, they’re prototyping something new, but it has nothing to do with the Alien franchise. Eurogamer notes that many of the team members that worked on Alien: Isolation no longer work at Creative Assembly.

Sega also corroborated this in their statement: “Currently the studio is fully focused on the development of Total War: Warhammer 2 and other as yet unannounced projects.”

[ORIGINAL STORY]

We’ve caught wind of a hot new rumor that will have survival-horror fans clenching their sphincter in excitement – it sounds like we might be getting a sequel to Alien: Isolation.

The rumor (thanks, PlayStation Universe) comes via the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine (issue 135), where the outlet cites sources close to the studio moving on to work on a new Alien game. Here’s the quote:

”Our sources tell us that after work is finished on Halo Wars 2, a new Alien game may start development over at Alien Isolation dev Creative Assembly.”

It’s also worth mentioning this could be in development at the recently acquired Crytek Black Sea, which parent company Sega rebranded to Creative Assembly Sofia. Now that Halo Wars 2 is complete and out in the wild, the core team at Creative Assembly has to move onto something, right?

The original Alien: Isolation was released towards the end of 2014 and it was met with both commercial and critical success (we liked the game too). Despite the game not reportedly making Sega’s own sales forecast, a sequel has never been ruled out.

In case you missed it, you can find our thorough review for the original Alien: Isolation here (we recommend it, but make sure to read our review first!).
