Rise of the Ronin gets live-action launch trailer

Rise of the Ronin

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Team Ninja shared another a new launch trailer for Rise of the Ronin, complete with some live-action segments.

The new trailer shows fragments of in-game visuals and gameplay alongside snippets of actual real-life actors reinacting the game’s story and characters. It remains to be seen if the game employs live-action cut-scenes.

Set in the Bakumatsu era of Japan – the ending of the country’s feudalism shogunate and its strict isolationism towards outsiders – Rise of the Ronin follows an unnamed samurai without a lord – a Ronin, who forges his own path through the historical strife.

The world in Rise of the Ronin is grounded in historical realism during a time when the country saw the collapse of its centuries-old ruling class, alongside the western nations that asserted heavy influence on Japan’s changing and modernizing landscape.

Developed by Team Ninja of Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, and other titles – Rise of the Ronin is an action-adventure experience with a “rich multi-choice system” that will let players shape the course of history.

As mentioned the game takes place in the late Bakumatsu period when Japan’s shogunate came to and end. Team Ninja has meticulously recreated many historical regions in the title, as well as ancient cultural norms.

Rise of the Ronin will make use of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense features like haptic trigger feedback, meaning you’ll feel the click of your matchlock rifle’s trigger and more through its triggers. There’s also support for 3D spatial audio – giving you a full soundscape of late feudal Japan.
