Amazon’s Prime Video has finally revealed the first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, also confirming its premiere date.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now set to premiere exclusively via Prime Video on August 29th.
A direct follow-up to the original Amazon series, The Rings of Power season 2 will follow the events in Middle-earth’s Second Age with a focus on the rise of Sauron (Charlie Vickers), who gets a proper reveal in the new trailer.
Returning cast includes Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Isildur (Maxim Baldry), Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova), and more. As the original tale goes – Sauron disguises himself as an elf to forge the titular rings of power with Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), securing Sauron’s rise to power.
The new trailer also gives a very brief look at the character known as the Stranger (Daniel Weyman), who may or may not be an early appearance of Gandalf – the most famous of all Middle-earth’s wizards (Istari). There’s also a look at Mount Doom, a Great Eagle, and various battles and scenes.
Earlier this month another new Lord of the Rings cinematic adaptation was revealed – The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, a new live-action movie directed and starring Gollum actor Andy Serkis. Original film trilogy director Peter Jackson is producing the movie.
