RimWorld update adds full Steam Deck support

Developer Ludeon Studios announced a new RimWorld update adds full Steam Deck support, following the update’s delay last month.

The new RimWorld update adds full Steam Deck support to the game, making its Deck controls “more intuitive” while also refining its touchscreen interface, improving its UI and keyboard, and a new easy way to update the Deck’s controller setup was added as well.

Here’s a brief rundown on the Steam Deck-focused updates and changes:

RimWorld update adds full Steam Deck support

  • Touch screen scrolling improvements on SteamDeck.
  • It’s now possible to scroll through lists by dragging your finger on SteamDeck.
  • Make zooming faster on SteamDeck.
  • Holding a special “middle mouse button” button on SteamDeck, now translates left clicks into right clicks. This makes it possible to give goto orders to drafted pawns by using the touch screen.
  • Don’t pan the camera if the middle mouse button is held and a colonist is selected on SteamDeck.
  • Allow more zoom on SteamDeck for better touch screen support and easier navigation.
  • Better time controls on SteamDeck, it’s now possible to increase/decrease time speed with back buttons.
  • Accept key on a SteamDeck now activates the first command.

In related news, RimWorld was refused classification in Australia, while at the same time its console ports were leaked – so we should expect an announcement for the console ports soon.

RimWorld is available on Windows PC, Linux, and Mac via GOG and Steam. Valve’s recently launched Steam Deck is now available, and in three flavors: $399 (64GB), $529 (256GB), and $649 (512GB), over on the Steam store.
