RimWorld update for Steam Deck is delayed

Developer Ludeon Studios have announced the RimWorld update for Steam Deck is delayed because of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

While the RimWorld update for Steam Deck is delayed, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has affected the sole developer behind its Steam Deck updates.

The staffer in question, Ludeon Studios tech lead Piotr Walczac, lives in Ukraine and not only got a Steam Deck very late, but is obviously unable to work now with the current state of Ukraine.

“Our developer who was working on this lives in Ukraine,” the developer said in the update. “After delays getting the Deck to him, the current situation there means he won’t be making progress any time soon.”

Ludeon also noted that while RimWorld does run on Steam Deck currently, it does need some fixes to make it a bit more playable. These include some UI fixes and tweaks, as well as general issues with the game running on the handheld – but the fix is being worked on.

In related news, RimWorld was refused classification in Australia, while at the same time its console ports were leaked – so we should expect an announcement for the console ports soon.

RimWorld is available on Windows PC, Linux, and Mac via GOG and Steam. Valve’s recently launched Steam Deck is now available, and in three flavors: $399 (64GB), $529 (256GB), and $649 (512GB), over on the Steam store.
