Capcom have announced horror survival game Resident Evil Village has sold 4.5 million units worldwide.

The game has previously 4 million units worldwide by late May 2021; and sold faster than the three prior games in the series. The game’s popularity is likely the reason Capcom announced DLC was in development for the game during E3 2021.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was previously announced to have sold 9 million units as of March 31st, 2021. This made it Capcom’s second best selling title, and the best selling Resident Evil game; as Capcom consider each entry of Resident Evil 4 as a separate game, divided by platform. In total, Resident Evil 4 sold 10.7 million units.

Overall Resident Evil Village’s 4.5 million places it as the 5th best selling Resident Evil game, surpassing Resident Evil 3 (2020). This would also mark it as the 12th best-selling Capcom game of all time, just ahead of Devil May Cry 5. However, both of those figures are based on sales data from March 31st.
