Capcom recently dropped a lot of news about their upcoming projects for the Resident Evil franchise.
From the new expansion adding new features, a brand new storyline for their most recent title in Resident Evil Village, to the remake of their critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4, fans are eating good.
With the hype surrounding the newest remake for RE4 after the 2 other remakes with RE 2 and 3, it was natural for people to wonder if the team might consider remaking other older titles, like Resident Evil Code Veronica.
The game followed protagonist Claire Redfield, who made her first debut in the second game, and is the younger sister to Chris Redfield. It launched for Dreamcast back in 2000 and was originally supposed to be the next true sequel instead of what eventually came with Nemesis.
In an interview with Noisy Pixel, RE 4 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked about if they’ll continuing remaking other titles within the franchise after the release of the upcoming remake. One such suggestion was in regards to Code Veronica.
Hirabayashi stated they are focused solely on the upcoming RE 4 Remake and that there are “no concrete plans” for another remake, such as Code Veronica. However, he also added in that if the “opportunity comes, maybe”.
For now, it seems that Resident Evil 4 Remake will be the sole game the company is working on in terms of the franchise. If you’re interested in it, then the game is slated to launch March 24th, 2023 for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game will also support PlayStation VR2.
