Capcom announced the Resident Evil has now surpassed 200 million units sold worldwide, landing at an enormous 201 million copies across the franchise.
The new milestone was confirmed in Capcom’s latest financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. That makes it the first Capcom series ever to cross the 200 million mark.
A big part of that momentum came from the launch of Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year (you can read our review here). The newest entry reportedly sold 6.91 million units during its first month alone, helping push the franchise over the line alongside Capcom’s consistently strong catalog sales.
What makes Resident Evil especially impressive is how well older games in the series continue to sell years after release. Resident Evil 5 still remains the franchise’s best-selling individual title with more than 19 million copies sold, while the Resident Evil 2 remake is sitting close behind at around 18 million units.

Resident Evil may be leading the pack, but Capcom’s other franchises are still putting up massive numbers too. Monster Hunter has now reached 127 million lifetime sales, while Street Fighter sits at 59 million. Meanwhile, Mega Man has climbed to 44 million units sold, and Devil May Cry has reached 38 million.
Other long-running Capcom properties continue performing steadily as well, including Dead Rising at 19 million units sold, Ace Attorney at 14 million, and Dragon’s Dogma also reaching 14 million.
Overall, Capcom is coming off another record-setting financial year. The company reported its highest-ever net sales and operating profits, while annual game sales reached roughly 59 million units during the fiscal year.
One of the biggest reasons behind that continued success is digital distribution. Digital sales now account for around 93% of Capcom’s total game sales, showing just how heavily the publisher relies on its expanding back catalog across modern storefronts.
