Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced PS5 shipped over 17.2 million units while PS4 shipped over 116.8 million units – news confirmed in their latest financial briefing.
While PS5 shipped over 17.2 million units, the last official shipments record was 13.3 million units shipped as of October 2021, so they shipped over 3.9 million units in a couple months during holiday 2021. The new sales figures came in from the three months that ended on December 31st, 2021.
In comparison to the 3.9 million PlayStation 5 units moved during holiday 2021, over 200,000 PlayStation 4 units were shipped in the same time period. Sony’s PlayStation 5 sales forecast was lowered from the previous 14.8 million units to 11.5 million units, a 3.3 million decrease. The decrease in their forecast is likely due to the ongoing supply chain issues and chip shortages.

- First-party software sales have topped 92.7 million copies
