A source close to the hotly rumored Playstation branded virtual reality headset has told Edge that the prototype will actually be revealed at the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next week.
Supposedly, a prototype of the headset is already in the hands of various third party developers, and the source also said that the current iteration of the product is “far superior” to the first incarnation of the Oculus Rift. However, the highly expected Crystal Dove Oculus Rift kit is said to be similar to the Playstation headset.
The new technology is reportedly going to be revealed at the “Driving the Future of Innovation” session held by Sony on March 18th, a talk in which SCEA research and development executives Richard Marks and Anton Mikhailov (both most known for creating the Playstation Eye and Move peripherals) will be hosts, alongside Sony Worldwide Studio boss Shuhei Yoshida.
