Kadokawa Games have detailed the gameplay systems of Kantai Collection Kai, the upcoming PS Vita port of their popular Japanese browser game. Accompanying the explanations are new screenshots of the revamped user interface.
Kantai Collection Kai has been delayed until August 27. Pre-orders of the game will include an original Kan Colle Kai pouch, pictured above. And a limited edition of the game, for 9,800 yen, will include the following extras: Medicchu (as opposed to Minicchu, i.e. miniature) figures of Ooi and Kitakami; the above bonus pouch; and other, yet-to-be-revealed, bonuses.
Let’s get to the game itself. KCK‘s gameplay consists of the following elements:
Strategy Screen
Sea regions are depicted as hexagons, and the various fleets in each area appear as silhouettes. This “Strategy Screen” is a major features of Kan Colle Kai. From here, players can transition to the familiar “Admiral Room.”
Commands
Kan Colle Kai is a turn-based game. On the left of the Strategy Screen, players can access their commands, including “Sortie”, “End Turn”, and “Move”.
Modification Screen
The “Modification Screen” provides the basic parameters of the player’s Kanmusume (fleet girls), and lists the player’s Fuel, Ammunition, Steel, and Bauxite at the top. The PS Vita version of this screen offers a new, monotone user interface.
Changing equipment
Equipment is changed at the Modification Screen. Equipment is classified classified under such categories as “Main Armament”, “Torpedo”, “Machine Gun”, “Radar”, and “Hydroplane”. The equipment selected is depicted rotating around the fleet girl.
Transport Fleets and Sea Guard Units
Players can deploy “Sea Guard Units” to protect “Transport Fleets” as they travel between the sea and home ports.
