Publisher and developer The Indie Stone has released Project Zomboid update 41, an update so massive they’re saying it actually feels more like a sequel.
Project Zomboid is arguably one of the most immersive, well-made, expansive, and likewise brutally challenging zombie survival and crafting games ever made for PC. The attention paid to detail with the visuals, sound design, music, and gameplay is as much rewarding as it is maddening at times. Update 41 touches on virtually every aspect of the game, it truly is massive.
The game forces you, the player, to seriously plan for anything and everything, as it can and will throw everything at you including the kitchen sink. And by kitchen sink, I mean zombies, there’s a lot of zombies. They’re in places one wouldn’t expect them like closets and bathrooms, you’ll have you explore quietly or you’ll find yourself being eaten alive immediately.
Here’s a big new trailer for Project Zomboid update 41:
The latest update brings with it tons of tweaks to sounds such as cleaving and bashing zombie head sounds, to more realistic and fleshed out vehicle sounds as well. Each car or truck has its own sounds whereas before, they all sounded the same. The full list of changes is massive – you can get the patch notes here.
The developers also added an in-game map too, so the times of having to have another tab open to look at fan-made websites for Zomboid maps are over! Players are able to mark waypoints accordingly on the in game map to make for easier navigation and looting location finding. Even online netcode was further improved in the new update.
The cool thing about Project Zomboid is you can roam around by your lonesome and just survive for however long you want to, without any forced interactions with players or NPCs. I’m a sucker for sandbox zombie games, so if it seems like I’m gushing too, then guilty as charged. I love immersive gameplay and am looking forward to diving into this latest update for Project Zomboid.
Project Zomboid is now available for Windows PC (via Steam and GOG).
