Square Enix have officially announced Project Prelude Rune has been shut down, and Studio Istolia has been shuttered.
The news comes via US Gamer, who Square announced the cancellation to. The spokesperson stated:
“Following evaluation of various aspects of Project Prelude Rune, development of the title has been canceled. Studio Istolia is no longer in operation and we have been taking appropriate steps to assign studio staff to other projects within the Square Enix Group.”
In case you missed our prior coverage, the game was suspected to be cancelled after several social media accounts and the game’s official website were shut down. The RPG game was originally announced in February 2017. It was developed by a brand new studio (Studio Istolia) and headed by former Tales of series Producer Hideo Baba. Baba left Square Enix in April 2019.
