Pokemon Legends: Arceus Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark Revealed

Pokemon Legends Arceus Zorua Zoroark

After yesterday’s teaser trailer, the new Hisuian forms of Zorua and Zoroark have been announced for Pokemon Legends Arceus.

The new trailer shows the recording, but now from the recorder’s point of view- and with no distortion. Official information on the Pokemon has yet to appear on the game’s official website.

While we speculated the likes of Houndour, Poochyena, Lillipup, Rockruff, or Yamper; Zorua had completely slipped our minds. In its normal form, it has black fur with red tips; and possess the ability Illusion. This allows it to look just like another Pokemon in your party. Debuting in Generation V, it evolves into Zoroark. Both forms tend to use their illusions to protect themselves and their groups.

Regional forms of Pokemon usually posses different behaviors along with Type. While this line of Pokemon are usually Dark types, Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are Normal and Ghost-Types. The pair still seem to be based off kitsune- magical foxes with illusionary powers in Japanese mythology. However, not all kitsune are tricksters.

Some tales describe white kitsune as good omens; such as those that serve the Shinto rice deity Inari. There are others that state when a kitsune reaches 1,000 years old (and grows its ninth tail) it turns white. In both cases the white kitsune repels evil.

In addition, Amaterasu (the sun goddess of Japanese mythology) can sometimes take the form of a dragon, or a dragon-fox (a shinko or tatsugitsune). The latter is depicted as white with red markings, and likely the inspiration for Ameterasu’s wolf form in Capcom’s Okami.
