Player shows how to beat Elden Ring in under an hour

how to beat Elden Ring in under an hour

One speedrunner has just uploaded the world first “sub hour” speedrun, showing how to beat Elden Ring in under an hour.

Despite releasing less than a month ago, the global speedrunning community has already begun breaking Elden Ring as fast as they can.

Speedrunners have been whittling down the time required to beat the game, and late on March 9th, YouTuber LilAggy uploaded the first recorded completion of the game in less than an hour.

Obviously an open world exploration game won’t be 100% like showing how to beat Elden Ring in under an hour, but for what the speedrunning community calls “Any%” all bets are off as long as you can reach one of the game’s multiple endings. Exploits and glitches are all on the table.

Or more accurately everything is off of the table. While this is the first recorded time in under an hour, at the time of publishing Speedrun.com, the de facto home of the speedrunning community has port a moratorium on Elden Ring runs until at least March 18th.

“Submitting to the Elden Ring leaderboards will not be possible before March 18. No category is going to be created prior to that day,” LilAggy said. “Note that this date is not yet set in stone. This is to give verifiers enough time to create a proper ruleset, as well as to decide which timing method and categories are appropriate.”

He added, “Of course you can still submit any time you got during this period later, as long as it aligns with the CURRENT (!) ruleset once submissions are possible.”

This is because in order to hold all speedrunners to the same standard, rules are set for the leaderboards. For example, categories in other games may not allow modified controllers, or some categories won’t allow glitches.

Right now it’s the wild west of speedrunning for Elden Ring. Who knows if LilAggy’s run will meet the yet undecided standards for an Elden Ring speedrun, or even if it does, will he still be the fastest run when the leaderboards open?
