PlatinumGames’ Project G.G. could be at E3 2023, has expanded to a “large-scale” project

PlatinumGames could finally be showing off their mysterious superhero x kaiju game, Project G.G., at E3.

The developer talked up many of their games that are in production (via Famitsu) as well as the company’s future, now that Takao Yamane has joined as their new vice president and CBO.

One of the games that was mentioned happened to be Project G.G., which was first announced way back in February 2020. The game could make an appearance at E3 2023, apparently.

Here’s the previous teaser trailer for the game:

When asked about Project G.G., Hideki Kamiya stated that the game has grown beyond the initial ideas that birthed the teaser trailer: “We expanded it into the large-scale project that it is today. I personally did not expect the game to take this form,” Kamiya said.

The game initially started out as a small, modest project until Tencent, the Chinese juggernaut, invested into Platinum Games and the project grew as a result. Atsushi Inaba said, “From the initial planning stage, it was something that could be made into a small game or a big game,” he explained. “From the very beginning, we decided to produce it as the first in-house IP created by Kamiya.”

When asked about when the game would be shown off or we would get more information, Yamane replied, “well, let’s see. If I had to say it, I’d say ‘See you in Los Angeles next June’. Is that what it sounds like?” When asked for clarification if that meant E3 or the Summer Game Fest, Yamane said, “Let’s put it another way, we don’t have any information until then. Please look forward to it.”

Inaba added, “The sooner we give a goal, the sooner you try to achieve it, eh Kamiya?” to which Kamiya replied: “Yes. If we say that, we have to make it in time…I suppose.”

Let’s hope that we see some more of Project G.G. next year!
