Pixel Galaxy‘s developers, Serenity Forge, describe the game as Katamari Damacy meets Geometry Wars—or, in other terms, “a hectic shoot ‘em up where you can’t shoot. All you can do is make friends.”
Players play as a block that must dance around the bullets of other blocks in order to reach their attackers and join with them. Once a block joins the player’s block, its bullets are the player’s bullets. Join enough blocks together, and the player’s avatar becomes a giant mass of the stuff. Getting hit by bullets destroys the player’s blocks, and when the last of those blocks are shot, it’s game over.
If that explanation was too convoluted, you can just watch the gameplay video above.
Pixel Galaxy is coming to Windows/Mac PCs and Wii U consoles some time this summer.
