Peter Molyneux’s Godus and Godus Wars pulled from Steam

Peter Molyneux’s “re-genesis of the god game” Godus has been pulled from Steam alongside its more action-focused sequel Godus Wars.

Both of Molyneux’s god games have been pulled from Steam due to a new “technical change from Amazon Web Services” which affects their ability to “serve necessary game files to new users”.

“22cans would like to share important news regarding our games, Godus and Godus Wars,” the developer said in a statement. “Regrettably, due to an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services, affecting our ability to serve necessary game files to new users, these titles are to be withdrawn from the Steam store.”

22Cans noted that anyone that already owns either of the god games will be able to continue playing them with no issue after the AWS update. Its worth noting Godus remains available for mobile, though, on both iOS and Android.

“We sincerely appreciate the incredible support from our players over the past decade and extend our heartfelt thanks to you all.”

Originally partially funded by Kickstarter and released via Steam early access way back in September 2013, Godus never left early access and garnered mostly negative reviews on its Steam page.

Its action-focused sequel, Godus Wars, was released in 2016 as a free title for Godus owners, but it also never left early access and racked up overwhelmingly negative user reviews on Steam.
