Blizzard has officially revealed Shion, the newest hero joining Overwatch when Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches on June 16.
As Overwatch’s 52nd playable hero, Shion enters the roster as a Damage-class flanker tied directly to the game’s ongoing Talon and Hashimoto Clan storyline. She’s portrayed as one of the most feared leaders within the Japanese criminal organization, bringing a flashy mix of cybernetic enhancements, oni-inspired aesthetics, and relentless aggression.
Shion has already become one of the most talked-about hero reveals in recent memory. Many fans have praised her visual design and personality, calling her one of Blizzard’s strongest character debuts in years.
On the gameplay side, Shion is built around mobility and close-range pressure. She uses dual hitscan pistols as her primary weapon, can dash to gain temporary protection, and even summon a motorcycle that functions as both transportation and an offensive tool. Her ultimate allows her to rapidly charge through enemies while unleashing devastating bursts of gunfire.
Season 3 will lean heavily into a Japanese crime syndicate theme, introducing new cosmetics, story content, and the Tokyo-inspired Neon Junction map. The good news for players is that Shion won’t be locked behind any purchase requirements and will be available to everyone when the season begins.
Overwatch has been available across Windows PC (Battle.net, Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5.
