Overwatch 2 is the first among Blizzard’s library to come to Steam.
Last month Blizzard announced that “select” games will be coming to Steam, the biggest online retailer for PC games. Until now, Blizzard games were exclusively available on the company’s Battle.Net service for PC.
Part of the reason likely stems from the pending merger between Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard. During the height of the case, an argument was made that exclusivity was bad for games, particularly PC games.
Blizzard had discovered there wasn’t a strong increase in Battle.Net users after making recent entries to the Call of Duty franchise exclusive on Battle.Net and instead older games from the series continued to thrive on Steam.
While Overwatch 2 might be the first, we’ve yet to hear what games are coming next to Steam.
