Blizzard Entertainment games coming to Steam starting with Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard Entertainment has announced a “selection” of their games are finally coming to Steam on Windows PC.

The new roster of Steam releases is beginning with Overwatch 2, their free-to-play hero shooter sequel, on August 10th.

Previously, various Blizzard Entertainment games on PC were available exclusively via their Battle.net client, like Diablo IV and Warcraft III: Reforged.

“Battle.net is the home of all our PC players, and over the years, we’ve evolved our platform to support updated technologies, capabilities, and our communities’ expectations,” the company said. “But as we’ve evolved, the industry has evolved too–gaming is no longer just for specific communities as it was when Battle.net launched over two decades ago, gaming is for everyone–and though we remain committed to continually investing in and supporting Battle.net, we want to break down the barriers to make it easier for players everywhere to find and enjoy our games.”

Overwatch 2 players on Steam will have to connect the game to a Battle.net account, which enables cross-play and more. The Steam version of the game will support Steam achievements, Steam friends list, and the ability to invite them to play in-game.

Blizzard will reveal more games for Steam “when the time is right.”
