Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling home video game console of all time in the United States.
The previous record-holder was the Wii, which sold more than four million units in its first ten months of being available on the market. The Nintendo Switch managed to sell over 4.8 million units in that same time frame, according to Nintendo’s internal sales figures.
“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”
The hybrid console has quite a few promising titles in its future lineup, including: both the original Bayonetta games are coming to the hybrid console alongside a completely new entry, Bayonetta 3. There are other big titles coming like a new Metroid Prime 4, a new Pokemon game, Mega Man 11, Project Octopath Traveler (read my preview here), and more.
