Out of the above list of games, only seven of them are multi-platform (eight if you include Ace Angler). Japanese game sales data-focused Twitter account Game Data Library notes this has not happened since November 1988; with only Famicom titles in the top 30 (or Nintendo Entertainment System or NES as it was known in the west).

“It wasn’t that unusual during the early 1990’s for the Top 30 to be a combination of Famicom, Super Famicom and Game Boy games, but never just one,” Game Data Library tweets. “This is unprecedented, its the first time all 30 games are from the same system after the Top 30 tracked all platforms.”

The Nintendo Switch has seen roaring success, recently achieving 89.04 million units sold. An analyst for the Ace Research Institute had also previously claimed that Nintendo has an oligopoly in Japan, while PlayStation game sales have been practically “eradicated.”
