NIS America has shared a new trailer for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.

Featured above, the new trailer introduces the series’ protagonist, Adol Christin, the “fearless adventurer.”

Here’s a brief rundown on Adol, via NIS America:

Adol Christin, the brave red-headed adventurer who has endured countless challenges and dangers, has returned and embarks on his biggest and most daring adventure yet on the Isle of Seiren! After washing up on the cursed island, Adol meets a brand-new cast of characters that join him on his journey. In his dreams, a mysterious, blue-haired maiden named Dana appears. Amidst these mysteries, Adol must brace himself for all of the challenges ahead!

Alongside the new trailer is the news free Adol-themed DLC will be available for the first week of the game’s release:

  • Adol’s Silver Armor – The memorable, original armor Adol wore in Ys.
  • Adol’s Adventurer Clothes – Jaunty clothing that Adol wears on his adventures around the world.
  • Adol’s Survival Kit – Obtain items that are useful when adventuring on a deserted island. Survival Kit includes: Blade Ring II (x1), Empty Bottle (x1), and Iron Ore (x10).

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is launching across PC, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita on September 12th in North America and on September 15th in Europe.

So can someone explain what content is being cut from the Vita version? Kind of wanted to play it portable, but with less content and talk of performance issues I think I may just wait to see how the PC port is.

Ys 8 first came out on Vita with new content being added to the PS4 version later. There isn’t anything cut from the Vita version that wasn’t already there. However, the PC port will probably be shit knowing NISA’s absolutely dogshit track record of bringing games over. Do not give NISA money.

Any idea on the Vita performance? It’s the type of game I want to play perfectly smooth. The 60 FPS trailers are great.

Not that I don’t play games on PC it’s just not a selling point for me to support your cause. I will however get it for the PS Vita, or PS4. Ys Celceta is a great game. I still play it. I hope Ys Lacrimosa is a great game as well.

No content was cut, the PS4 version is an updated port that came out in japan later. It doesn’t have Single character mode, a whole section of story and a related character, along with other, smaller features.

If it’s anything like the previous Y’s games, not only will it work, but it should have multimonitor support. Those games look fantastic on 3 screens. Little ports like this can get the treatment, but almighty Bethesda with their shitty Fallout 4 can’t do it.

Dude, maybe stop trying to play games on a laptop using Windows XP. Their ports work fine nowadays. Not their fault if you’re bad with computers.

Given the engine it runs in, I doubt there’ll be many issues.

Although it likely won’t be as optimized as Cold Steel was with its Durante involvement.

Well, he has a voice in Celceta too, even if it’s just yelling

Any idea on how the Vita version performs? If it plays really smooth I might get that then get the PC version later on sale.

No content is being cut from the PSV version, NISA was nice enough to include the extra content from the PS4 version on the PSV version. Meaning, performance and graphics aside, Ys VIII on PSV has the exact same content as the PS4 and PC versions~.
