Sea of Thieves has launched their new Mysteries content. Mysteries are a new type of undertaking in the game where players will search out clues hidden in both the game world and social media.

Our first Mystery is a classic murder mystery and a new video heralding the beginning of this adventure shows us our victim.

Anything after this might delve into spoiler territory. You’ve been warned.

For those who don’t know the lore and for those who didn’t play Arena, what we see here is the trademark hat of DeMarco Singh. DeMarco was the leader of the Sea Dogs, the PvP faction that ran The Arena (before Rare got rid of it). However not content to just kill off the game mode, the man who ran the show has now been killed, left for dead as the sun bleaches his bones.

We’re also given a panning view of the island where his body lies, and as fitting for the leader of the Sea Dogs, fans have pointed out that it’s most likely Sea Dog’s Rest.

Of course this isn’t the only clue we’ve been given, Rare teasingly said there’s a clue somewhere near the end of this video which explains Mysteries and their role in the Sea of Thieves narrative.

While Pirates aren’t exactly famous for being an academic bunch, players will have to put their heads together to get to the bottom of Rare’s new Mystery.
