A new Magic Knight Rayearth animation project has been announced as an anniversary project to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

No details about the new anime has been released, but artwork was shared with the profiles of three main characters Hikaru Shindou, Fuu Hoouji, and Umi Ryuzaki looking at the sky with a mysterious tall volcano:

In addition, TMS, which aired the series way back in 1994, also released a teaser trailer:

Manga collective CLAMP created Magic Knight Rayearth from 1993 to 1995, culminating in three volumes. The manga and anime mecha shoujo series was adapted to an anime with two seasons in 1994 and an OVA in 1997.

The story centers on three high school students who were suddenly trapped into a fantasy world and must rescue a princess that is vital in the fate of that world, and theirs. The manga combines shoujo fantasy elements with bits of the mecha and magical girl genres.
