New Fan-Made Dungeons & Dragons Beat ‘Em Up Released

Back in 1994, I played the Capcom Dungeons & Dragons beat ’em up “Tower of Doom” so often that friends jokingly congratulated me on my marriage to it in my yearbook. Truth be told, I would have if it had been legal, since it was the perfect combination or my two greatest loves: Side scrolling fighters and D&D.

Thanks to a fan, you can relive the old Capcom D&D games, since someone has made a new one entitled Rise of the Warduke and has made it free to download.

Using Open BOR as its engine, it aims to not only replicate, but improve upon, the formula Capcom established in the Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara D&D beat ’em ups. A tall order, but one that looks possible considering what I’ve already seen. The game has more playable characters, more quests, more levels, and more special moves & spells than either game and looks just as gorgeous.

No word yet if Capcom will strike it down the way Sega did the Streets of Rage remake that used OpenBOR a few years back. Just to be on the safe side, it might be a good idea to download it and save it while you can.
