Cygames has shared a new batch of gameplay for Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link.
Featured above, the new gameplay shows off gameplay we previously reported on from the Granblue Fantasy Festival last year – only now we’re seeing it in glorious high-definition direct-feed quality. The above gameplay shows off the game battle scenes and country village seen in the previous gameplay walkthrough.
The Platinum Games-developed action RPG is currently in development for PlayStation 4. A 2018 release was previously confirmed, however, today’s announcement lists the game’s release as “to be announced.”

January 19, 2018 at 11:27 amThe combat in this game looks insanely fun.

January 19, 2018 at 11:37 amThe combat does look pretty good. All it needs is a lock-on (which it may have) and I’m in.

January 19, 2018 at 11:45 amSo far Sage, Cygames, Nintendo, Square Enix and Activision have all worked with platinum and brought games to completion and launched on the market, yet Microsoft arguably more richer than all of them put together, couldn’t even make one game happen! Something is rotten in the state of Denmark me thinks.

January 19, 2018 at 11:48 amYea I don’t know the whole story there, but I’m having a hard time believing that Platinum was the problem.
InkViper
January 19, 2018 at 11:56 amI find it difficult to believe as well, I remember hearing around that time that there were whispers of Microsoft bigwigs throwing shade at platinum, but I think it’s quite clear with this next game and how far it has come along, that platinum was never the problem.

January 19, 2018 at 12:00 pmIt’s such a shame because I was genuinely interested in Scalebound too. I always liked games that had controllable pets/monsters for battle, and here it’d be a huge dragon that you could customize over time? I know I’d have enjoyed that.

January 19, 2018 at 12:03 pmwonder if Cyagames will force some kind of censorship for the west

January 19, 2018 at 2:45 pmI think this is the first piece of non-clipping cloak I’ve seen in a game. It didn’t clip through the hair or body.

January 19, 2018 at 2:45 pmSo fucking hyped!!
Nagato
January 19, 2018 at 2:48 pmIt’s still so bizarre that out of the giant ally games, TLG actually did come, the Platinum game was the one to never see the light of day, and EA published Titanfall 2 was actually the best out of the lot.
Nagato
January 19, 2018 at 2:48 pmDefinitely looks a good step up from Nier, that’s for sure.

January 19, 2018 at 2:57 pmCygames seems too cheap to put out the money to censor 3D models when it’s not needed by law especially since the only censorship in the mobage is Summer Izmir. Only issue I can see is a bad translation and if they put out collab DLC.

January 19, 2018 at 3:04 pmSomebody explain the trend of using : and ; improperly?

January 19, 2018 at 5:40 pmIt’s basic action RPG mechanics. If you’re interested in them check out the rerelease of Final Fantasy 12.

January 19, 2018 at 5:43 pmFrom what I heard it was almost entirely on Microsoft’s shoulders. The original version that Platinum wanted to make was about a little girl and a dragon. Microsof then forced them the change the protagonist, then they forced multiplayer, the part where Platinum drew the line was at Microtransactions which the head developer refused to put in the game thus triggering the delays.
When Neir Automata came out it showed that Platinum’s vision for games was correct. If Microsoft released the mess of corporate meddling it would have been lambasted so they cancelled it.

January 19, 2018 at 5:44 pmI’ve seen such a thing before, but it’s pretty rare and so long in-between I couldn’t tell you the last game that did so.

January 19, 2018 at 5:45 pmImport the Asian region version. It typically has English subtitles for everything.

January 19, 2018 at 9:10 pmI’d love a Fate/Grand Order game like this, sadly we’re only getting a game using the same game style of the mobile game but with 3 people fighting in each team

January 20, 2018 at 4:37 pmTypically their translations are better than localizers and are fairly accurate.

January 20, 2018 at 4:38 pmFinal Fantasy 12 was the first action RPG of the series and was lauded for it’s mechanics in the day. Now they’re releasing the complete edition without the upgrade system being stripped out. You can also find this battle system in a lot of MMOs today as well if 12 isn’t to your liking.

January 21, 2018 at 8:34 amI could imagine that meeting.
Unnamed Microsoft suits.
“What the Fuck is this, why is he wearing so much hair product, in fact why does he even have hair? And where is the steroid arms, we need more steroid arms, and fuck that Dragon, he should be driving a 4 x 4 with a rear mounted machine gun! This will never do, cancel it!!!!!” lol

January 21, 2018 at 9:16 amSo many studios and talented dev teams perished at MS hands lately
(Ensemble Studios, Lionhead, Bizarre Creations…), and so many
cancelled projects with partners. I start to think that they are a kind
of cancer for this industry (but not the only one unfortunately).

January 21, 2018 at 9:18 amThis looks great ! I’ll play it for sure !

January 22, 2018 at 10:40 am?
Final fantasy XII is more like a turn-based rpg with free movement. You’re thinking FF XV maybe?
No_Good_Names_Ever
January 22, 2018 at 3:52 pmAn RPG that you walk around and choose attacks from a menu isn’t action; the first action RPG of the series is FFXV or that one Vincent game if it’s not just a shoot em up.
Phasmatis75
January 22, 2018 at 9:29 pmThat’s not how the industry defines it nor is that the accepted standard by consumers.
Phasmatis75
January 22, 2018 at 9:30 pmNope XII. It was the first one to go action rpg. There are many styles of action rpg, but XII was the first in the series to head in that direction.
