A new rumor is making the rounds that a new Armored Core game is in the works, complete with Souls-like combat and a story focused on obtaining the “melange” substance.
The rumor comes via an anonymous ResetEra user “Red Liquorice” who claims they received a consumer survey for the new Armored Core game.
The user claims the shown gameplay had a Souls-like feel to it, and the supposed product info says the new story and world focuses on a world obsessed with “melange,” a substance and main theme seemingly taken literally from Frank Herbert’s iconic Dune series.
As for what this supposed new Armored Core game will be officially titled, if this survey is real it sounds like they haven’t decided on making the game a numbered sequel or not.
The user claims the titles you could pick from included Armored Core: Subtitle and both Armored Core 6 and Armored Core VI, but “can’t remember” what the subtitles were. However – the user claims some suggested names didn’t have Armored Core in the title at all.
Here’s the product description from the purported survey:
Melange, an unknown substance that could dramatically advance human society. In the past, this substance caused a cosmic catastrophe on planet Bashtar that engulfed the surrounding star systems, and eventually its very existence was lost. Decades later, the Melange reaction was confirmed again on planet Bashtar. In search of the unknown substance that should have been lost, various speculations begin to swirl. Various parties are getting involved; The government, corporations, cultists, and unknown mercenaries… The protagonist is one of them.
The game is a TPS (third person shooter) mecha action title that lets you move around an overwhelmingly scaled map that represents a unique sci-fi world with dynamic mech action. You will face strong enemies and fierce battles both long and short range using guns and blades.

While it remains to be seen if a new Armored Core game is actually coming, way back in 2016 FromSoftware confirmed that they were working on several new games – one of which was supposedly a new Armored Core game. A couple years later, FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the game was still in development, while it still has had no official reveal.
The most recent game in the Armored Core series was 2012’s Armored Core: Verdict Day. Since then, most of the veteran staff that worked on the Armored Core franchise have since moved on to develop the new mecha ARPG Daemon X Machina, which is now available for Switch.
As with any rumor, take this with a handful of salt – we’ll keep you guys posted.
