If you are a Call of Duty Zombies fan, then you most likely have been disappointed by the lack of Zombies content in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Before the end of Season One, Activision/Sledgehammer Games announced that in Season 2 there would be new content coming to Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. When Season Two launched in February 2024, many Zombies fans were disappointed by the lack of content included in the patch. Instead of getting new missions, bosses, and schematics, all they got was a single Stronghold mission. Now, Activision has released the Season 2 Reloaded patch adding new content to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and more importantly to the MW3 Zombies game mode.
With the new patch comes a new Warlord Stronghold: KERES, a new story mission in Act 4, and three new schematics/items; the three new schematics are Mags of Holding, V-R11 Wonder Weapon, and the Blood Burner Key. The regular version of the items can be found in the Act 4 Countermeasures Dark Aether or within the Sigil version of the Dark Aether. The Mags of Holding makes it so you do not have to worry about reloading. The V-R11 Wonderweapon “helps you turn zombies into friendly mercenaries and mercenaries into friendly zombies.” Finally, the Blood Burner Key spawns the Blood Burning so that you can ride it and slay zombies with ease.
If you have completed the first part of Act 4, Bad Signal, you will be able to select the Act 4 Story Mission Countermeasures. Completing the Act 4 Countermeasures is no easy task. In order to extract to the mission, you must first be able to survive Zone 3 (Red Zone) and be prepared to enter the rift. For this, we recommend having an Epic rarity weapon, several perks, and a Tier 3 Pack-a-Punch weapon. With those at your disposal, surviving the Act 4 Countermeasures mission will be easier. However, finding your way within the mission is not an easy task. Like the other Dark Aether missions, you will need to complete contracts within in order to extract.
While in the Dark Aether you will need to complete the Act 4 story mission and the three obelisks in order to get the necessary items to do the Season 2 Reloaded Easter Egg.
Three Obelisks
Within the Act 4 Countermeasures Story Mission, there are three obelisks around the map that require zombie sacrifices in order to get the key items needed to complete the Season 2 Reloaded Easter Egg. The three obelisks require that you kill zombies in a particular way in order to complete the challenge. The three obelisks are the Fog/Mod Obelisk, The Headshot Obelisk, and the Melee Obelisk.
Melee Obelisk
Completing the Headshot and Melee Obelisks is fairly simple it just requires the right weapons and perks. The Melee Obelisk can be found on a boat immediately to the left of where you spawn. In order to get on the boat, you must turn around, climb up onto the nearby billboard, and jump onto the floating vehicle. Once the floating vehicle lifts up, you will need to jump onto the ship. Once on the ship, you can activate the obelisk and will have to kill zombies within the circle using melee kills. Once enough zombies have been killed within the circle, a reward rift will spawn granting the Purple Tactical Gloves.
Headshot Obelisk
Once you have completed the Melee Obelisk, you can either head over to the Headshot Obelisk or the Fog/Mod Obelisk. For those who are looking for an easier time, it is better to head to the Headshot Obelisk since it is faster and easier to do; it is located by the incomplete bridge/Soccer Field. The Reward Rift grants a purple Perforated target.
Fog/Mod Obelisk
Once you have completed the other two Obelisk’s, you can now head over to the Fog/Mod Obelisk. If you have called in the ACV, once the ACV stops to pick up the Neutralizer head South East to around 127 SE (I8). Once there you can start the Fog/Mod Obelisk.
The Fog Obelisk could be the most difficult out of all the Obelisks. For this task, you must go to the Shrine and kill zombies within the circle. Killing the zombies alone will not do; instead, you must use different ammo mods to kill the zombies. By interacting with the shrine, the shrine will grant one of the needed ammo mods. The shrine will glow the color of the weapon mod needed to kill zombies and will visibly change as you meet the quota.
First, you must kill zombies using the Napalm ammo mod; once you have killed enough zombies, it will require you to kill zombies using the Frost Wire ammo mod. After killing enough zombies with Frost Wire it will transition to requiring Dead Wire kills. Once enough zombies have been killed with Dead Wire, it will switch over to Brain Rot kills; brain rot kills can be difficult since Turned zombies will kill other zombies. If you are ever unsure of what ammo mod you need, you can look at the color of the alter.
Once you have completed the Fog Obelisk, a reward rift will spawn with the Purple Pristine Mirror inside.
Once you have gotten the Pristine Mirror, Tactical Gloves, and Perforated Target, you can complete the Act 4 Story Mission get the Golden Drums and Extract.
Season 2 Reloaded Easter Egg Steps
Once you have successfully extracted from the Act 4 Countermeasures mission, you should have the Pristine Mirror, Tactical Gloves, Perforated Target, and Drums in your inventory. In order to complete the next steps of the Easter Egg, you will need to load back into Zombies with those four items. Before you can sacrifice the items at their assigned Pedistools, you will need to upgrade the purple versions of the items into yellow versions. In order to do this, you will need to take the mirror, gloves, and target to three specific locations; all three locations are located on the right side of the map.
Upgrading the Relics
Depending on where you spawn, you might have a good bit to travel. Additionally, we recommend loading in with an Aetherium crystal and Juggernaut in order to complete these easily since special zombies will appear at each one. Going from the top right to the bottom right of the map. Up first is the Church.
The Church(Graveyard/Pristine Mirror
Out of the three items you need to upgrade, the Pristine Mirror is the hardest to upgrade. In order to upgrade the Pristine Mirror, you will need to head to the church located on the top right side of the map located at (I3). Once there, you will need to find the tree next to a coffin with a mirror on it and offer the Unattuned Relic, Pristine Mirror.
Once you have offered the mirror, two special zombies will spawn with different color eyes. Depending on the color of the eyes, you must kill the zombies with correlating ammo mods. Thankfully, in the same cemetery, there is a crypt where the ammo mods can be spawned by interacting with the wall. If you do not kill them fast enough, they will despawn and you will have to start over again. Once you have killed both zombies correctly, it will spawn a yellow version of the mirror.
Shooting Range/Perforated Target
Once you have completed the mirror, you will need to head south to the shooting range near Shahin Manor located at (H8). Once there, find the shooting range with a singular target in the middle and offer the Unattuned Relic (Perforated Target). Once you have activated the ritual, you will need to go around the range shooting the glowing purple targets and turn them red; be aware, that there is a target hidden behind the container where you first started. Once you have shot all the targets, a Zombie will spawn and you must kill him to get the Legendary (yellow) version of the Perforated Target.
Boxing Gym/Tactical/Boxing Gloves
Once you have upgraded the Pristine Mirror and the Perforated Target, you will need to head over to the Boxing Gym near the Zaravan suburbs located at (E8). Jump into the ring and offer the Unattuned Relic (Tactical Gloves). Once you have offered the gloves, you will need to unequip your weapon and hit the punching bags left to right. Once all three punching bags are on fire, a boxing zombie will spawn. Get in the ring and duke it out. Once you knock the zombie out, the upgraded version of the Tactical Gloves will be available.
To the Dark Aether
Once you have upgraded the three relics, you can head to the high-threat zone (Tier 3) and head to the alters located on the Northern-central part of the island (). Once there, you can find the four alters surrounding the power tower. Once all four relics have been placed, the Dark Aether Rift will spawn in the center; an audio queue will play with Dobbs stating the final artifact has been placed. Once the rift finishes materializing, a mimic will spawn. Kill it and you will then get a Sigil as a reward.
Dark Aether Schematics
If you want to unlock the new schematics, you will need to insert an Elder Sigil into the Dark Aether Rift; if you only want a single-use item, you can go in using the Regular Sigil. If you use the Elder Sigil, you will only have 15 minutes to complete the three bunny tasks. Once in the Dark Aether head to the Warehouse in C5 to pick up the Eliminate the Bunny Contract. The second bunny is an Outlast Contract where you have to hold the hut by the Carnival. The final bunny is located on the top roof of the mall; for this contract, you must disable all extractors within the area.
If you complete all three contracts, you have a high chance of getting the new schematics. If you get one you already have, you can trade it with one of your teammates. Before the timer runs out, head to the extraction point on the top of the hill.
