MW3 Zombies Act 4 Countermeasures Story Mission

If you are a Call of Duty Zombies fan, then you most likely have been disappointed by the lack of Zombies content in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Before the end of Season One, Activision/Sledgehammer Games announced that in Season 2 there would be new content coming to Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. When Season Two launched in February 2024, many Zombies fans were disappointed by the lack of content included in the patch. Instead of getting new missions, bosses, and schematics, all they got was a single Stronghold mission. Now, Activision has released the Season 2 Reloaded patch adding new content to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and more importantly to the MW3 Zombies game mode.

With the new patch comes a new Warlord Stronghold: KERES, a new story mission in Act 4, and three new schematics/items; the three new schematics are Mags of Holding, V-R11 Wonder Weapon, and the Blood Burner Key. The regular version of the items can be found in the Act 4 Countermeasures Dark Aether or within the Sigil version of the Dark Aether. The Mags of Holding makes it so you do not have to worry about reloading. The V-R11 Wonderweapon “helps you turn zombies into friendly mercenaries and mercenaries into friendly zombies.” Finally, the Blood Burner Key spawns the Blood Burning so that you can ride it and slay zombies with ease.

If you have completed the first part of Act 4, Bad Signal, you will be able to select the Act 4 Story Mission Countermeasures. Completing the Act 4 Countermeasures is no easy task. In order to extract to the mission, you must first be able to survive Zone 3 (Red Zone) and be prepared to enter the rift. For this, we recommend having an Epic rarity weapon, several perks, and a Tier 3 Pack-a-Punch weapon. With those at your disposal, surviving the Act 4 Countermeasures mission will be easier. However, finding your way within the mission is not an easy task. Like the other Dark Aether missions, you will need to complete contracts within in order to extract.

Act 4 Countermeasures Story Mission

In the Act 4 Countermeasures Story Mission, Zombies will be at Tier 2 level, but a Tier 3 Pack-a-Punch weapon will make your life a lot easier. Whether you enter the Dark Aether solo or with a six-man team, there will be NPC soldiers to help with the contracts.

If you are having trouble finding the contracts, look for the Dragon with wings to find your way. When you enter the rift and spawn in, the first objective closest to the spawn will be the Investigate contract. The mission prompt says, “Investigate the nearby distress signal;” This requires that your team enter the nearby building and locate soldiers stranded on the top floor.

Once you have located and rescued the soldiers, you can work on the other contracts. The four main missions to complete, they are

  • Escort – Take down zombies near the ACV and escort it
  • Eliminate – Continue to defeat enemies and destroy the signal disruption
  • Rescue Fletcher – Remove 15 cysts in the mall (similar to Aether Nests/Spores)
  • Outlast – Activate and eliminate zombies near the PND

Additionally, there are three obelisks around the map that require zombie sacrifices in order to get the items needed for the Season 2 Reloaded Easter Egg. You can read what’s required to complete those and the rewards for each, here.

Escort/Eliminate

For Escort, you will need to locate and Activate the ACV and kill zombies while it moves. This task can take the longest so it is best to start it soon rather than later. Midway through the escort, a signal will interfere with it bringing the ACV to a halt. Players must then find the tower emitting the signal and deactivate it. Upon deactivating the terminal, it will transform into a mimic. With the signal gone, the ACV can move towards the exit. The ACV will stop outside of a mall where the mission prompt “Rescue Fletcher” appears. Once Fletcher is saved it will continue until it reaches the stage, then the Outlast contract will start

Rescue Fletcher

As you are escorting the ACV, it will stop in front of a mall filled with gas and give you the mission “Rescue Fletcher”. In order to rescue Fletcher, you must enter the mall and destroy the Cysts throughout; there are a total of fifteen spores/cysts throughout the building that must be destroyed. The easiest way to locate these Spores is by using the Death Perception perk. Once you rescue Fletcher, you will head back to the ACV and escort it to the stage.

Outlast

Once the ACV reaches the stage, there will be a prompt to activate the PND. With the PND active, the Outlast quest will start. Players must survive and kill zombies in the area until it reaches 100% charging progress. Once the PND reaches 100% charge, a Dark Aether rift will appear and spawn a boss Mangler named Krawvir. Once the Mangler boss is slain, a reward rift will spawn containing one of the newer single-use items, Golden Drums, and other items.

Cutscene

Once you extract from the Dark Aether a new cinematic cutscene will play and we learn more about Revenov’s connection to Samantha Maxis and the Requiem Project.

If you have completed all three obelisks and the story missions, you will have the items necessary to do the Season 2 Reloaded Easter Egg.
