Multi-Track Racing and Cleverly Incompetent AI Coming to PS4 and PS Vita in Drive! Drive! Drive!

Indie studio Different Cloth and publisher Choice Provisions have announced they’re bringing Drive! Drive! Drive! to both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita sometime next year.

The upcoming driving game takes place across various galaxies, each with their own respective levels of gravity and physics. You’ll be tasked with racing across multiple tracks at the same time, in something that Different Cloth boss Gordon Midwood likens to a “mixture of arcade racing and track management.”

“In Drive! Drive! Drive! you must race and manage multiple tracks at the same time,” Midwood said over on the PlayStation Blog. “You are able to switch between the different tracks of a race any time you like. When you switch away from a track, a computer racer takes over driving on that track for you.”

There’s a track creator, and AI that is described as “incompetent,” but “in a clever way.” Coming from this, Different Cloth has an internal name for their AI, “Artificial Idiocy,” which is powered by their “Intelligent Stupidity Engine.”

Midwood went on to explain how all of this perceived nonsense works:

“To place well in every track you’re racing you’re going to have to hop from track-to-track on a regular basis to account for the subversively cretinous computer cars. Luckily for you your opponents have been programmed to severely lack in cognitive ability, too!”

While Drive! Drive! Drive! is coming to Playstation 4, PC, and PS Vita, we’ll keep you guys posted should its release window change.

Editor’s note: We originally missed that Drive! Drive! Drive! was coming to PC as well. The post has been amended to reflect this.
