Playstack have announced the Steam release date for action RPG Mortal Shell; along with the game’s roguelike DLC mode The Virtuous Cycle.

Mortal Shell is available on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store, August 18th via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. An Enhanced Edition is available on PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

As previously reported, Mortal Shell is a third-person action-RPG set in a grim fantasy world. The game focuses on skill-driven tactical combat, and players can possess the remains of fallen heroes to gain access to new fighting styles and techniques.

The Virtuous Cycle DLC will add a roguelike mode, featuring over 100 upgrades across randomly generated levels as Hadern. Hadern can also be used in the main campaign, bringing his own skill tree. The DLC also brings the Axatana, a katana that turns into an axe when sheathed.

The Virtuous Cycle DLC launches August 18th along with the Steam version of the game; one year since its launch on the Epic Games Store.

NEW TRANSFORMING WEAPON: THE AXATANA
Fallgrim’s most venerable weapon has been unearthed. In your hands the Axatana bends to your will, assembling itself into a supreme heavy axe when the moment calls, and detaching into lightning-fast dual katanas when you desire. Unique movesets for both stances are yours to unlock.
