Mobius Final Fantasy Gets Freebies to Celebrate 8,888,888 Registered Users

Square Enix has announced a new milestone for smartphone RPG Mobius Final Fantasy.

The game has accumulated 8,888,888 registered users worldwide, mere months after its August 3rd launch, globally. Featured above, a new trailer was released in response to the new milestone.

To celebrate the accomplishment, Square Enix is hosting a bunch of contests through this month:

  • 8,888,888 Registered Users WORLDWIDE Event (Nov. 1 – 13) – Two lucky fans will be selected to win an autographed Official MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY Concept Art Collection or autographed official MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY Original Soundtrack. To qualify, players are invited to share the “8,888,888 Registered Users WORLDWIDE Event” post on Facebook with the message, “Congratulations to MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY for hitting 8,888,888 registered users worldwide!” This will automatically enter players into the drawing. Additionally, once the official event post reaches 8,888 shares and likes, all players will receive 88 in-game Ability Tickets.
  • “MEMORIES OF MOBIUS” – For the entire month of November, fans can win additional prizes by sharing their most memorable MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY experiences. The story that generates the most likes on the official Facebook event post will win an autographed official MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY Original Soundtrack. The second prize winner will receive a moogle™ plush toy. Furthermore, if the official post exceeds 3,888 likes and comments, every registered player will receive three in-game Crystals.
  • In-Game Login Bonuses and Free Card Summons (Nov. 1 – 13): For two weeks, a special login bonus will be available, featuring Summon Tickets, a Growstar and other rare items as rewards. Players will also be able to summon one Ability Card daily during this period without the need for Summon Tickets or Magicite.

Mobius Final Fantasy is currently available for iOS and Android worldwide. Japanese players have access to a PC version, which has yet to get a western release.

What kind of game is it even? A j-rpg? A Dissidia like fighting game? An srpg?

    I think it’s a turn-based jrpg, haven’t played it though.

All you have to do is either tap the screen to attack and occasionaly cast a spell or two, or just put the phone on the table, keep the display on and let it play auto. Then you just select next area to go to and read a bit of dialogue. Spells come from ability cards, that can be infused by sacrificing other cards to level up your ability cards, their spells, increase deck level and stats. Not really that hard, it basically plays itself for you and eats your battery. Also needs almost constant internet connection.

yep, auto, afk is pretty much the playstyle, the combat system reminds me of FF13 gambit system where playing took 5x longer than watching for a miniscule efficiency drop, one character (multiple job classes fighter/thief/mage variants).

They should have waited until they hit 88,888,888 players/downloads. If you gonna celebrate specific number, you gotta do it right!
