Microsoft is apparently still trying to bring Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox consoles, Square Enix’s flagship MMORPG.
Nearly three years ago, Microsoft proclaimed they were bringing the MMORPG to Xbox consoles – and Xbox Game Pass. We haven’t heard anything since then, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer said the project isn’t dead, yet.
“Hahaha, we certainly announced that (laughs). Naturally, we haven’t given up yet,” Spencer said to GameWatch.jp. “This is a commitment from both Microsoft and Square Enix to the gaming fans, and we will continue to coordinate our efforts.”
It’s possible Square Enix was gearing up to port the game to Xbox One, prior to the launch of Xbox Series X|S, but likely dropped previous-generation development for the MMO when they shifted development purely to PC and PS4, dropping the PS3 version.
