Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard have mutually agreed to delay their impending merger.
The decision is likely a result of their ongoing negotiations with the United Kingdom’s Competition and Market Authority (CMA) which is their largest obstacle after a judge ruled against the Federal Trade Commission in the US.
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer announced the decision on Twitter saying:
Microsoft and Activision Blizzard have extended the merger agreement deadline to 10/18. We’re optimistic about getting this done, and excited about bringing more games to more players everywhere.
The CMA and Microsoft have recently been allowed to continue negotiations out of court.
