SNK’s classic Metal Slug Anthology re-release is coming to PlayStation 4.

The news comes from the latest PlayStation Blogcast, which confirms the title for a July 5th release in North America. This is a port of the PlayStation 2 version, meaning the games will only support up to two player local cooperative play.

Fans can expect the anthology to include Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5, and Metal Slug 6. This re-release also comes with bonuses like text-interviews with some developers from SNK, as well as sound and art galleries.

    So, the PS2 version, then.

This is the definitive collection of Metal Slug games. I wish they could add online MP for them.

Maybe SNK is considering a new entry in the series.

    So… No online play?

I would buy it if I could co-op online cus I have no friends to play locally ?

Is this just some dotemu shit or is it proper ports? If it’s the latter I’m all over that.

It’s just the PS2 game. I was hoping for a new collection that included Metal Slug 7 and XX, maybe even Metal Slug 3D and the portable games. Oh well.

    It’s the PS2 version.

I think it’s an emulated version of the PS2 Anthology disc, so that would make it an emulation of an emulation.

Do note that the PS2 Anthology has some pretty bad input lag, however, so don’t buy this sight unseen unless you don’t care about anything of the sort.

I never experienced such issues back when I played in on PS2.

I still have the wii version if they add no more games why bother.

The PS2 version is absolutely fine.

Stick to the MS games on Steam in that case

I have this on the PS2 and I guarantee the input lag is by no means a large enough problem to make this not the definitive collection of Metal Slug to play for the lazy gamer that doesn’t want to download each ROM individually.

The point is, this is a good way to experience a great series. Now Shock Troopers 3 when?

That is what I was wondering. I played the PSP version and enjoyed it. If I had a PS4, this would be one of those games I would get.

With Leona playable at the start, and the addition of Whip so we have Team Metal Slug and Team Ikari.

Awesome. Love me some Metal Slug, and I never got a chance to pick up the anthology on the Wii or PS2. I have not played a game in the series in quite a long time. Perhaps I could use this to introduce the games to my girlfriend, since I have mentioned them to her before in conversations.
Is this digital only I assume? I for one would love a physical retail copy.

Metal Slug is pure fun, but I just get grossed out by those Aliens when they got introduced. Is it just me?

Is this going to be a PS2 emulation of a NEO GEO emulation?

Why would anyone want Metal Slug 3D?

They should put this on Vita. Those games are perfect for a portable system.

Aww. I was hoping the other games were getting the Metal Slug 3 treatment, with online, and Metal Slug XX. As it is, I already have this on PSP, which is vita compatible, so no rebuy just for trophies.

and why the hell didnt they release this on PC instead of releasing each game individually?

crap, this is the only way to play MS6, which is one of my favorites
