Tribute Games has finally given us a release date for Mercenary Kings, their hotly anticipated throwback side-scrolling shooter set for PC and Playstation 4. Mercenary Kings will be launching on PC via Steam Early Access on March 25th, while Playstation 4 owners will have to wait until April the 1st.

The story puts you into the boots of either Empress or King, two members of the elite squad known as the Mercenary Kings, who are tasked with saving Dr. James Neil from the dastardly group known as C.L.A.W. (Cyber Loyalist Active Weapons), and stop them from using the Mandrake Formula in their plot for world dominance.

You can play on your own, or with up to four people via local split screen co-op, or via online connectivity. The game boasts over 300 gun parts and over 100 types of knives, all of which are able to be upgraded and crafted.
