Nintendo has revealed that the classic side-scrolling platformer shooter, Mega Man X2, is landing on the Wii U Virtual Console. Apologies for the box art posted above, I’m just a sucker for Mega Man box art, regardless of whether it’s hammy or awesome.
You can view the reveal trailer below:
Mega Man X2 is a direct sequel to the original Mega Man X, which launched a year prior in the original release on the Super Nintendo console. The events in the story take place after Zero’s sacrifice to save X, and continue the ongoing war between the X-Hunters and the Maverick Hunters.
The X series saw lots of enhancements from the previous entries released on the NES, most notably the improved graphics and abilities that X possesses.
Mega Man X2 is currently available on the Wii U Virtual Console, for $7.99 dollars.
